Arterial Highway-French Creek Parkway Paving and Improvement Project Update August 22, 2025

Posted on August 22, 2025

The intersection of the arterial highway and Baldwin Street was realigned as part of the Route 6 Reconstruction Project. Under the new configuration, there will be a stop sign for traffic on Baldwin Street turning east or west onto Route 6. Westbound traffic on Route 6 will have a left turn lane for entering Baldwin Street but will otherwise not have a stop condition as was previously in place at the intersection.

The change is expected to be implement the week of August 25, 2025.

Drivers should also be alert for the temporary signal that will be in place near Meadville Forge starting August 26, 2025.

The project started in August 2024 and is on schedule for completion in fall 2025.

The contractor is Glenn O. Hawbaker, Inc. of State College, PA. The contract cost is $16,616,006, which is to be paid with a combination of federal and state funds.

Additional information on the Route 6 Reconstruction Project is available online under the Projects Near You portion of the PennDOT website at www.PennDOT.pa.gov/District1.

PennDOT urges motorists to slow down when driving in work zones, and also to be alert to changing conditions, avoid distractions and to pay attention to signs and flaggers. Drive responsibly in work zones for your safety and the safety of the workers.
