The Biggert-Waters Flood Insurance Reform Act of 2012 was enacted and extends the National Flood Insurance Program for five years, while requiring significant program reform.  This act may affect you if you currently have flood insurance or are being contacted by your bank or lending institution requesting you obtain flood insurance.  You, or any new buyers, may also be affected if you wish to sell your property and if it is located in a flood zone.
